May 6: Tusk Beer

The folk from Feral Brewery in West Australia are bringing a load of their much anticipated Tusk beer to the Durham Castle Arms in Kingston. It's an IPA that they make only once a year, for a small selection of craft beer bars. This is the first time they've released Tusk in Canberra. The beer has been trucked across the country from WA and you can get a taste of it on Friday, May 6 from 12pm. The Durham, Green Square, Kingston.

May 7: Homebrew Day

Learn how to homebrew with the Canberra Brewers this weekend. It's the annual International Home Brew Day demonstration day on Saturday, May 7. They'll have eight members brewing beer on their own equipment at the The Hangar, a 1940s industrial-style hangar at 255 Canberra Avenue, Fyshwick. The day will include brewing demonstrations and sessions on mead making, cider pressing, coffee roasting and fermented foods like sauerkraut. Starts at 10am and finishes at 3pm. It's $20 and will be held at the Pot Belly in Weedon Close, Belconnen. Saturday, May 7, at 11am. Call 6251 4530.

May 25: Beerology

It's called Beerology and will explore the science of brewing the perfect beer, including a beer-themed trivia session, short talks on the history of brewing, tours of the microbrewery, and a "beer goggle" competition to test your reflexes. And there'll be a question and answer session with the brewmaster. Tickets are $10. Wig and Pen, Llewellyn Hall, Australian National University. Tickets from eventbrite.com.au
