When business partners Issy Shaked and Nir Kalif discovered Nick Cave grew up in Murrumbeena, they decided to express their fandom by naming their new cafe Nature Boy after one of his songs.

The pair recently opened Mountain of Bears in nearby Ormond after selling popular city cafe Manchester Press and Loco Coffee in Elsternwick.

Don't be fooled by Nature Boy's single shopfront. The sizeable cafe is segmented into a number of indoor and outdoor spaces, which seat a combined 80 patrons.

There's a La Marzocco machine at the front pumping out Gridlock Coffee during the morning rush and second machine at the rear.

The all-day breakfast menu includes a summer chia pudding, shakshuka, smashed avocado with Persian feta and a breakfast board that comes with a soft-boiled egg, smoked salmon, mushroom duxelles and chicken terrine. The lunch offerings are also available anytime and the cafe already has a liquor licence.

Open Mon–Fri 7am–4.30pm; Sat–Sun 8am–4.30pm.
