Naughty Boy, at the quiet end of Lygon Street, is set to have tongues wagging and fingers pointing (in a good way) with its quirky personality and refusal to be pigeonholed.

Daniel Katz and Ashley De'Hartman, the team behind Flemington's Mama Bear, have gutted the former Residential Kitchen cafe, adding a mural by street artist Michael Fikaris, communal tables made from shipping container components, and repurposed milk crate light fittings.

The menu from chef Mark Wallen (ex-Pint of Milk and Mama Bear) offers breakfast all day, with Persian feta, falafel, skordalia and Otway bacon, and coconut and lime rice pudding the standouts. Kids have their own offerings, such as baby benny (scaled-down eggs benedict on an English muffin), while orange, ginger and poppyseed friands and gluten-free brownies, best enjoyed with an Allpress Supremo blend coffee, are kept under lock and key in a glass cabinet.

Open Monday to Friday 7.30am-4pm; Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm.
