Sake Double Bay's executive chef, Min Kim, said he was aiming to be contradictory in a menu inspired by traditional Japanese culture and his own culinary training yet full of contemporary flourishes.

"It will take guests on a journey back in time, yet is strikingly modern day," he said. "It's a juxtaposition of East meets West, past meets present, serious eating meets gastronomic entertainment."

Sake Double Bay is the latest hot restaurant from Urban Purveyor Group. The night will be anchored by culinary director Martin Heierling, Sake executive chef Min Kim, and Fairfax Food and Drink national editor Kate Cox.

Tickets cost $150 per person. Call (02) 9259 5656 or book at sakerestaurant.com.au/whats-on/the-future-of-dining-reader-event/
