Shoot the Chef 2014: winners and finalists

Shoot the Chef is the annual photography competition open to professional and amateur snappers across Australia. In its 15th year, the competition combines the nation's love for food and photography. The only brief is to shoot a chef, or your interpretation of one.

Here are this year's winners:

Overall Winner: James Ross - Holly

"This image is a part of a larger series which I have created due to the increase in popularity of celebrity chefs in Australia's mainstream media. The series aims to showcase the real, passionate and somewhat forgotten chefs working in Australia's hospitality industry."

Clique Monthly Challenge Winner: Corinna Lueg - Six Chicks

"My daughters' quandary … loving their backyard chickens as others do their dogs and cats, yet slowly coming to the understanding that their favourite family meal – the roast chook (with rosemary garlic, baked potatoes and caramelised onions) was once one of their beloved hens' cousin."

Check out the entries from the winners and finalists in the photogallery above.

The Shoot the Chef finalists and winners are on display from October 1-31 at Pullman Hyde Park, 36 College Street, Sydney. The grand prize winner receives a Canon EOS 70D DSLR camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Standard Zoom Lens, EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Portrait lens, and a $2500 Canon equipment voucher.
